We spent just one night in Cathlamet at the Elochoman Marina but it was still a memorable stop and a visit we’ll long remember. We arrived at about 5pm, after a 4-hour trip downriver from Kalama Washington.

A few notes about arriving at Elochoman Marina in Cathlamet:

  • We had to go all the way around Puget Island and approach Cathlamet from the downriver side. There’s a fixed span bridge between Washington and Puget Island which we couldn’t fit under with our mast. I’m sorry, I do not know the height of the bridge.
  • There’s a buoy just downriver of the mouth of the Elochoman Slough which you must enter in order to enter the marina- do NOT cut the corner and go between this buoy and shore. The river shoals out and, even being careful, we got very shallow and had to adjust course further into the channel.

We arrived after hours and paid our overnight fee via the after-hours registration.

30 amp power was available on the guest dock and our total for the night was $19 for the dock and $6 for the power. We also were greeted, happily, by the camp host who gave us the bathroom code so that we could get into the showers and the wifi password.

The marina wifi was quite good and the showers were exceptional. There were at least 4 shower rooms, fully locking, and seemingly unlimited shower time for just 50-cents.

Just up the hill from the marina was a fantastic small-town brewery where we met a friend for drinks and dinner. The local pizza parlor delivered pizza to the brewery and we feasted on truly delicious pizza.

We were treated to this gorgeous sunset at the Elochoman Marina, slept very well, and left with the morning tide, headed to Astoria.
