In early March, we finally got to leave Santa Rosalia after a week of waiting for our replacement Starlink unit to arrive. We fueled up at the Santa Rosalia fuel dock and then motored in zero wind down to Punta Chivato.
Punta Chivato Anchorage
Though we only stayed here for one night, and didn’t go ashore, we would have liked to have stayed here longer. A friend told me that the beach in Punta Chivato had some of the BEST seashell hunting that she’s found in Mexico so far.
The anchorage is easy and huge with a gently sloping sandy bottom. It’s open to the south, so beware any southern wind here, but we had a calm night and flat calm for sleeping. In the morning, we were treated to a gorgeous sunrise before we cooked a simple breakfast and picked up anchor to sail down into Bahia Concepcion.
I also found this website with information about the community: Home | HAPC (puntachivato.org)
We didn’t do the hike, but I’ve heard it’s cool. I found this information on it: Punta Chivato: 1 Reviews, Map – Baja California Sur, Mexico | AllTrails *no association and I can’t promise the trail is still accessible to the public
