On Wednesday, November 29th, we picked up our anchor around sunrise and motored around the corner to get into the bay at San Carlos. We were hoping to meet up with some potential friends aboard a boat in there, but got the word that they were all sick so we ended up having to steer clear (especially since we’d all just recovered from sickness – we didn’t want to risk it again immediately).

So we anchored in the bay for a couple of days, waiting out a bit more wind that was coming in. We planned to head up to Bahia Algodones, but ended up deciding to stay right in the bay in San Carlos until Saturday morning when we picked up the anchor again and took Mosaic into the Marina. We decided to splurge on the marina stay for the last couple of days that Brenden’s dad was with us and we went out to eat several times. The two of them grabbed an Uber back over to Guaymas and picked up the vehicle, bringing it back to park at the marina in San Carlos for the last couple of days.

We walked the road encircling the bay, got tacos more than once, got greek style gyros at a palapa on the beach, and cherished some delicious ice cream.

Scott left to drive back home on Monday, December 4th. We worked on a couple of projects including a trip up the mast for me, did laundry and showers one last time, did some provisioning, and then left the marina on Tuesday to head back out to the anchorage.

The boat was ready to go and we were watching a weather window to cross the Sea of Cortez to get back to Baja. We would end up leaving in the middle of the night in the wee early morning hours on Thursday the 7th, heading to Bahia Concepcion and then south.
