On Tuesday, December 19th, we were finally ready to leave Puerto Escondido and head on further south toward friends in the La Paz area. We motored all day in dead air once more to arrive a little before sunset in the roadstead anchorage known as Tambobiche.
We had stopped here once before in early 2022 and the place was just as we remembered: a small fishing camp on shore, just a small handful of a couple cruising sailboats, one or two fishing pangas, and that’s about it. The bay is large and wide open with lots of area to drop your anchor. There’s not a lot of protection here so you probably wouldn’t want to be here if a norther was blowing through.
We were quick on the move and only stayed here for one night. It was a nice sunset that evening and quite a brilliant sunrise the next morning as we picked up our anchor to continue onward for another long day of travel. Thankfully, the end of which would see us finally meeting up with friends-we-hadn’t-met-yet, SV Dream Reach and a whole gaggle of kid boats that were gathering at Isla Partida for Christmas in the Islands!!
Can’t wait to share all about our time in the islands and expanding our kid boat fleet for 2023-2024! Thanks for reading. ~Rachel
